worst migraine ever

last night i had, hands down, the worst migraine i have ever experienced in my whole life.  around 8, very suddenly, my head started to feel like my brain might explode out of it, the pressure was so great.  the throbbing was unbearable.  shortly after that, the nausea from the pain kicked in, only this time, it was so much worse.  every time i moved, even an inch, waves of nausea and dizziness hit me - and very often, it was causing me to throw up (my body was also incredibly achy, for some reason).  it felt like every cell in my body had been poisoned (i honestly started to wonder if i HAD eaten something with, say, botulism in it).  i really wanted to go to the ER, but there was no point at which i could have moved without feeling very sick, and the thought of being around lights (in the ER) made me sick all over again.  even at 5 am, i still felt this bad, though i was finally able to keep some medicine down, which made it go away several hours later.  thankfully, i feel ok this morning - the migraine is gone, but my stomach feels like someone poured rocks into it.

Eep! I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Take it easy today; get some rest and eat plain foods.

Awww. Poor thing. That's why I usually don't go to the ER either when I get bad migraines like that. Just the thought of moving or of getting to the phone to call someone is just too much! Even getting to the bathroom to throw up is too much of an effort, so I usually keep a bag by my bed. I don't know how often you get them, but I have shots available for when that happens...although if this is a rarity, it's probably not worth it to get them, since you have to learn how to administer them to yourself. Just make sure you rehydrate yourself now so it doesn't come back!

i don't get migraines all that often - maybe 2 every 3 months. they're usually not this bad though - i mean, generally, i get the sensitivity to light, weird vision problems, and constant throbby pain, but i've never been so nauseous that even flexing my ankle made me sick. i'm not convinced that it wasn't something i ate that triggered it (my only guess for that is the brussel sprouts i cooked up last night, as they're the only thing i ate that i don't consume on a regular basis).
